In 1984 the company became the property of Patrick Mimran (who was governor during the bankruptcy from 1980 to 1984). Mimran holding company until 1987, while the manufacturer of sports cars are not ends up in the hands of Chrysler. Unfit to manage Lamborghini, Chrysler sold the company to the Malaysian investment group Mycom Setdco and Indonesian group V'Power Corporation in 1994. Lack of success continued in the 90s, while Mycom Setdco and V'Power Corporation decides to sell Lamborghini to Audi on 27 July 1998.
Taking over management by Audi leads to a period of stability and increased production. The global financial crisis during the first years of the new century has a negative impact on most manufacturers of luxury cars, which makes Lamborghini sales to fall by almost 50%. Sales increased almost tenfold in the beginning of the new century, reaching record sales in 2007 and 2008.
